The new space Is over 1,500 square feet of studio space with a full basement for storage of props. With such a large space, she has decided to open a boutique store along with her new studio. She Is going to Incorporate the merchandise throughout her space so It still feels Like a studio, but items will be for sale throughout the store,'studio. She is going to be selling some of her most popular items that she uses for props.Instead of buying props, outfits and boutique items for implies to use during the sessions, she is going offer a small boutique line that will be open during the week to the public. The boutique will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday for shopping, and then she will be holding photo sessions on the weekends. The move will take her business to the next step. This new location will benefit her and it will benefit her pictures. Space is a must when you are working with children and larger groups in photography and this building has plenty of open space to catch all of those fun smiles. This also gives back to the customers, It gives hem a more professional feeling when they show up for pictures. It will be a win for both the customers and the photographer. Market Structure The market structure for photographers would have be a pure competition as anyone can buy a camera and take photographs, but if you are looking for professional pictures or investment prints then you need to look for a professional photographer. If you ask around I am sure you will be able to find a handful of photographers. Many do this as a hobby, others do it for additional income without jumping all the way in.You have the local department stores or grocery stores who offer photos for a small price ad then you have the professional photographers who have their own space and style. Once you get to this level I feel that they fall into the olig opoly. There are a limited number of quality photographers who have a price that is comparable to each other. To get to this level there are obstacles to overcome which makes the barriers to entry a little more complicated, Pricing and Non Pricing Strategies The main marketing tool for her photography business has been word of mouth. I Nils NAS Eden very positive Ana seen NAS a strong Toweling AT clientsWalt ten new location, she is going to be introducing a new referral program. With each order, she will provide eight referral cards to be handed out. For every referral that books a session and follows through with the session, the client who referred them will receive a $50 credit for future sessions/orders. She has also spent a lot of time researching print prices. Each photographer has there own strategy and style, but she has kept with an a-la-cart style with reasonable prices. Staying away from packages of prints or sheets of prints, this will allow each client to specifically order hat they want. With a downtown presence, this will open the door for new prospects outside of word of mouth. While having regular hours, this will allow customers to come in and see her studio, see her photos that she has displayed and meet the photographer. This should create a more personal relationship with customers, the community and other downtown businesses. In Just the few days that we have been in painting two neighboring business have requested company photo sessions. Visibility of the store front is already paying off. Appropriate Course and Credit Market Photography is a luxury for individuals and families. It is an art to be able to create a photograph that someone wants to purchase and frame in their home. Not every family wants to have a professional photo of their newborn baby, but the families who do will receive an assortment of pictures that they will cherish forever. This quality of service that a photographer provides has a price tag though. This profession has many different categories. If you want photos done by J Pennies or Wall Mart, you will be able to receive numerous photos for a small price. These photos re very generic and no time on editing is spent to make sure each photo is special. As a personal photographers experience increases, their prices increase as well. They are selling an investment, a luxury item at a particular price. Her research on boutique items has brought another branch to her business. Her main focus will be baby boutique and she will offer mostly items for babies and small children. The boutique will offer wooden baby teething toys, diaper bags, baby clothing, baby leggings, specialized tote bags and specialized hair clips. Each of these items are airily inexpensive to make or buy so there will be a small outlay of inventory costs. As a boutique shop with specialized products, prices will result in a comfortable net profit per item sold. This will be extra income as she plans to be in the studio during the week already. She will also have space to offer more of her products related to photography. She currently offers many different products for prints such as, mounted photos, canvases, stand out photos and a wooden mounted photo. She also offers baby announcement cards, holiday cards and Jewelry with photos. With the additional space in the studio, she will be able to showcase these products that will have the potential for increased sales.Showcasing products to customers is a great way to have them visualize what they would want in their homes. Profit Maximizing Revenue will increase with any level of sales from the boutique as this will be an entirely new market for the business. Depending on how the items marketed sell, will determine what other item will be offered. As the seasons change, the clothing choices will follow suite. New items will continue to be introduced and marketed as e believe this is a great way to have customers continue to visit the store.Changing merchandise wall create tramcar on a regular Oasis. A Tee ways to reduce ten price AT merchandise would be to develop and produce our own inventory or be able to purchase large quantities of inventory at one time. Since a boutique store is more known for having limited items, being able to purchase wisely or developing and producing boutique items will be the best alternative to reducing merchandise costs. Revenue Due to the fact that the boutique portion of the business is extra, any revenue hat is made on boutique products is a plus. Her main focus is to continue to keep the photographer studio busy because taking pictures is what is going to pay the rent. On the boutique side, she is going to focus on developing different products and merchandise during the weekdays and will continue with her photography work on the weekends and weekday nights. With the limited hours during the weekday, she feels that she will be able to keep up with the local demand. When/if it reaches the level where an add itional employee would be needed, we will look at the numbers to make sure it is Justified. The longer we can keep the business within the family, the better and more profitable we will be. With the boutique items being made and bought from wholesalers, this will create a specialty market which will be difficult for another business to copy. Also with the specialty merchandise, this will warrant a higher price as creativity has a higher price tag. This along with her photography skills, these two businesses will go hand in hand. Each photographer has there own style, and with the creativity that she has will carry over into the boutique business. Conclusion Overall, the photography business will be able to Justify the new space by itself; the boutique portion of the space will allow her creativity to be available to customers that are Just browsing or customers who have a scheduled photo session. No matter how you look at it, the exposure that the business will create by being downtow n will be positive and will hopefully create a broader customer base. Reference McConnell, C. R. , Bruce, S. Abortion Rights

There have been many cases in Canada’s legal system some more complicated and time consuming than others. It is a never ending process that has occurred throughout history as society’s beliefs continued to change and various new issues arose. Most people at the time would believe that majority of the cases in court would be to apprehend criminals in the eyes of the law with no other benefit to society. Unfortunately this perception was nothing but an illusion that had been imprinted in the minds of society. In fact if people had paid more attention to details as well as researched various the issues thoroughly, they would have discovered just how much each and every case had an effect on the world around them. Of these cases there has been a few which stood out for having a major impact on society whether or not people were aware of it. But the one that stood out the most among them was Abortion rights R. V. Mergenthaler, {1988} 1 S. C. R. 30. The case Abortion rights R. V. Mergenthaler, {1988} 1 S. C. R. 30 has changed Canadian society for the better due to the major impact it had on one of the most controversial issues. Firstly the major reason to why this case had changed society for the better is because of the fact that it had protected the lives of those who reside in it. In an In-depth explanation of this is that at the time women faced a lot of hate and criticism from society if they were to seek abortion. This also led them to develop various emotional problems which could have later turned into more serious health problems such as depression. It did not end here another health problem that women had faced at this time was that they had they experienced â€Å"excessive physiological pressure† (Klassen, Jeff and Clydesdale, Jacqui. Abortion: An Overview: Canadian Points of View Reference Centre, 2009) in the process of trying to obtain an approval for an abortion from a therapeutic abortion committee in an accredited hospital because they would worry if their application would get rejected or not. Another common occurrence was that the time it took in order to get an approval for abortion increased the risks of problems occurring when doctors performed the medical procedure. Also a cold reality was that some women had died because their bodies were unfit to give birth and the doctors refused to perform the abortion rocedure unless they were approved by the committee which caused them to die a death that could have otherwise been prevented. This situation is portrayed in the newspaper article ‘Change your abortion law to save lives' grieving father tells Irish PM’ (Chamberlain, Gethin. ‘Change your abortion law to save lives' grieving: thegurdian, Saturday 17 November 2012). where it tells the story of a girl whose life was at risk because her body could not handle giving birth and she was refused abortion due to Irelands abortion laws which led her to die. Fortunately these events have now been prevented and the lives of the women in the future have been saved due to this case making it a case that had truly changed society. Secondly it had stopped the injustice and discrimination for the women who sought an abortion in Canada had faced. The reason for this is because it is a biased decision that women had to get an approval at an accredited hospital in order to get an abortion. There simply was no need for this to occur as many of them had developed health problems due to delays or rejections by the committee. People also should not have had the right to decide whether or not someone should get an abortion or not it is the parent of the unborn child’s decision. Also in what these laws were cruel and inhumane as they had forced women who were no able to obtain an approval to bare an unwanted child and go through the various stages of pregnancy. This can be the same as if girl were raped by someone in order to force her to bear a child except in this case it is the law that is the one that forced the girl to bear a child. There was also the problem with the fact that Criminal code restricted abortion causing it to infringe the rights of women as stated in one of sub sections of section 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights called Security of the person. In this section it states that because the criminal code restricted abortions and affected their health it was unconstitutional. Therefore this case has saved women from the discrimination and injustice they were faced with from society and the law which changed how they would be treated in the future. Lastly it saved the lives of the future that would otherwise have been neglected or wasted. Anyone would have been able to decipher this without a second thought and it would have caused them to realize what would have happened to the unwanted child that the mother wanted aborted if it were born into this world. Many would have tried to believe that everything would have been fine and go on with their lives. But unfortunately it would have been hard to believe that the child would have been treated the same by its mother like another mother who actually wanted a child would treat it. The child would have actually been mistreated and neglected as if it were a burden because the mother did not want it in the first place. These events would have developed emotion problems in the child earlier on in their childhood which would have affected them the rest of their lives and would not have allowed them to live a normal happy life. This is due to society’s beliefs at the time that had been blinded by the ignorance and made them forget that â€Å"No one wants to see unwanted children brought into the world† (Lerman, Evelyn. Nobody Likes Abortion: Canadian Points of View Reference Centre, 2000). So they basically fought for no abortion laws while not foreseeing what would have happened to children who were born from mothers who wanted abortions. Thankfully this case had made sure that abortion laws were changed so that the lives which would have been neglected or wasted were not put in this world so they could have been happier. In conclusion it can be determined that this case truly did change Canadian society. As it helped save the lives of the women by making sure the abortion laws were changed as well as prevented the women of the future from experiencing the problems that they had to face in order to get an abortion. The injustice and discrimination of the women in was also nullified giving women more rights and a better place in society. It also helped save the lives of the future that would have otherwise been neglected or wasted. In the end this case is truly outstanding and deserves a place in Canadian history for the great accomplishments that it has brought to Canadian society.

Application Development and Databases Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4250 words

Application Development and Databases - Essay Example Permissions and authorization of users or processes are defined according to the policies of the business. An access control policy basically specifies a set of rules that describe the methods in which a client can access a server. Access control Matrix: An access control matrix is a simple method for the storage of access control information. It is a table in which each row represents a subject (user), each column represents an object (the object can be a file or a record etc.) and each entry is the set of access rights for that subject to that object. In general the access control matrix will be sparse, because most users will not have access rights to most objects. Every subject will, however, be mapped with every object (subject, object, rights). This approach can provide very fine grained security control. The problem is the more fine grained the control becomes the more entries are required in the table. In a big system the table can quickly become very big and difficult to manage and slow to search. Access control list: A different approach is to use capabilities and access control lists. The first method is to specify only the objects that a user may access. This approach is called a capability. It can be seen as a token giving the possessor certain rights to an object. The capability can be stored with the subject. A second method is to create a list that specifies which subjects can... The first method is to specify only the objects that a user may access. This approach is called a capability. It can be seen as a token giving the possessor certain rights to an object. The capability can be stored with the subject. A second method is to create a list that specifies which subjects can access an object, including their access rights. This approach is called an access control list (ACL). The ACL can be stored with the object or the resource. View based security: Currently, authorization mechanisms in SQL permit access control at the level of complete tables or columns, or on views. It is also possible to create views for specific users, restricting access to data by granting rights only to certain views & tables for each user. These allow those users access to only selected tuples of a table. However, complex role based access control conditions are difficult to implement. In some cases view security can be bypassed (if users have access to base tables). Also, management of security policy becomes complex by views. When a security policy is added, changed, or removed, it's difficult to determine what exactly to do with each view. An administrator cannot tell whether, by changing security policies through altering or dropping a view, he/she is breaking an application. Enforcing Access control privileges: i. Discretionary privileges: It is usually based on the granting and revoking of privileges. It is further divided into two classifications: 1. The Account level: At this level, the DBA specifies the particular privileges that each account holds independently of the relations in the database. Example: As the PMS is based on a centralized Oracle server, it must implement all the

Define the Joint Commission stand on the use of Electronic Health Essay

Define the Joint Commission stand on the use of Electronic Health Records and requirements for use - Essay Example The Joint Commission is responsible for verifying that the health organizations are using the electronic systems correctly in their activities of providing quality patient care (Joint Commission Resources, 2001). The 2008 alert from the sentinel event of the Joint Commission of the United States stipulates that as the technologies are being increasingly adopted by various organizations concerned with health issues. The commission suggests that their users should be careful of the security risks along with the prevention of the adverse effects that the systems can bring forth. These adverse effects can occur due to errors in commission or errors in omissions (Green & Bowie, 2010). They additionally suggest that these adverse effects usually stem from human or technological errors and should be greatly avoided. For example, in the year 2006 the Joint Commission found out that Pharmacopeia databases had over a hundred and fifty thousand errors on the medications issued and a quarter of them consisted of computer technology errors (Joint Commission Resources, 2001). The commission additionally suggests that the health organizations making use of the electronic records on health should use certif ied systems in meaningful manners (Abdelhak, 2007). This should be for the purposes of exchanging information that will lead to improvements in the quality of health care provided. They have clearly stated that the systems should also be utilized in the submission of clinical quality and other measures within the health organization (Green & Bowie, 2010). The commission carries out its accreditation activities on healthcare organizations through surveys on their sites every three years. Accreditation is awarded on the basis that an organization is complying with the requirements of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) Act of 1996. These requirements include issues like information management, the management of

Elements of Literature Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Elements of Literature - Essay Example The conflict between rationality and a deliberate slipping into the dream world and the character of Willy who simply refuses to see reality make the story realistic and one with which one identifies. Willy Loman’s character is said to be trapped in adolescence. Though he has reached the ripe age of sixty and is the father of two grown up sons he still idolizes the romantic concept of the rags to riches story. To him his uncle Benjamin represented ideal manhood. He is still mesmerized by the aura of his uncle who used to say on his accumulating huge wealth â€Å"Why, boys, when I was seventeen I walked into the jungle, and when I was twenty-one I walked out. [...] And by God I was rich" (Miller 48). His obsession with virility and machismo might be understood as his failure to live up to society’s expectation of a successful male. He would boast about his being a successful salesman in his youth and tried to take refuge in an imaginative past. He wanted his sons to be what he could not. Willy wanted his sons to be popular, famous and well-established but failed to incorporate in them the tenacity and diligence required to be an achiever. Like a child Willy would go by apparent and temporary moments of joy and victory but did not have the far-sight to chalk out the right directions for his sons. He lived in an illusion that his sons were the best and the brightest among all the other kids in the vicinity. But when he came to realize the truth it was too late. He has become an old man and both of his sons were men in their thirties and yet not settled with a job and a wife. He was all the more depressed when he found that the others have gone way ahead of him in terms of money, social status and established children with secure future. Charley whom he used to pity is father of a successful and renowned son. Willy’s disillusionment is complete when he understands that he had over estimated

Securing America and Protecting Civil Liberties Essay - 1

Securing America and Protecting Civil Liberties - Essay Example The liberties held so dear to the Americans was changed in number of ways where the law enforcements agencies had the right of conducting the searches of the homes and offices without a notice in advance or there were regular monitoring of the computers, email messages and text messages so that the clients can be eaves dropped on and so on. The clash between the civil liberties and the national security had taken place a number of times where the restrictive laws have played an important role to abridge the gap that exists between the two. In response to the terrorist attacks of 9/11, on September 14, 2001, Geroge W.Bush declared the state of emergency which gave him the right to invoke his presidential rights passing the Patriot Act which not only centralized the law enforcement powers to the Justice Department, but also gave CIA the oversight of the gathering of the domestic intelligence, and the rights of the citizens and non residents as stated in the constitution were disregarde d. After the terrorist attacks, the Patriot Act has played a very important role where several have debated over how ethical or unethical the Act was. The Department of Justice wanted to do everything possible to ensure that the terrorist attacks in the future can be prevented and therefore Patriot Act in this respect played a very important but at the same time a very controversial role. There were a number of operations carried out so that the Americans could be protected but in the aim of protecting the innocent America, their way of life was put in jeopardy and the true essence of the America life style was lost. It has been debated a couple of times that the first amendment, fourth amendment have been affected and eroded by the USA Patriot Act which gave birth to a large number of legislative changes , where most importantly the investigative powers of the law enforcement agencies was increased. Amendment 1 stated: â€Å"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment o f religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.† (Bill of Rights and Later Amendments ushistory.org) Amendment 2 stated: â€Å"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.† (Bill of Rights and Later Amendments ushistory.org) The American Government made changes to the surveillance laws and gave the law enforcement authorities to not only spy on the citizens but also limit the checks on those powers such as public accountability etc. â€Å"The USA Patriot Act permits seizure of voice mail pursuant to a search warrant , al lows victims of computer trespassing to invite law enforcement to monitor attacks on their computers without needing a court order.† (Etzioni, A., & Marsh, J. H. (2003). Rights vs. public safety after 9/11: America in the age of terrorism. Lanham, Md: Rowman & Littlefield) Initially when America declared the war on terrorism, it was

Critical reflection on a previous assignment (will be uploaded later) - Essay Example The Study of Society and the Environment will not only give the students an interactive scope and experience but will also equip them with a sense of citizenship. The SOSE makes individuals capable of coping with the day to day challenges by providing them with decision making powers and broad exposures. This paper depicts critical reflection and analysis on the feedback of assignment no. 3 which was intended to explain the learning plans and intent of the SOSE. The future learning sequences are also proposed at the end in order to give a clear course of direction and brainstorming so that the clear direction can be laid out for the productive and optimal results (Dyer, 2005). Identification and Proposals of the Issues in the Previous Assignment The SOSE should be taken into the global perspective rather than be limited to just Australia and other localities, because the study of society and environment is a science of environmental and societal studies keeping in view the diverse fo rm of changing and volatile environments. As depicted in assignment number 3, the intent and course of the SOSE and are defined to be in some kind of a limited perspective and the reader perceives it to be restricted to the border of Australia. Comparing the consequences of 1990s reforms in Latin America and East Essay - 1

Comparing the consequences of 1990s reforms in Latin America and East Europe - Essay Example After the adoption of the macroeconomic strategies in the 1990s, both regions had high hopes that the new models would produce dynamic economies and abandon the legacy of sluggish growth, which was evident in the 1980s. However, in practice, the results of the macroeconomic strategies were neither as effective as economic enthusiasts expected, nor as bad as economic critics predicted. Therefore, there is a need to take stock of the implications of policy implementation in the regions in the 1990s. This paper will examine the consequences of the 1990s reforms in East Europe and Latin America by examining the policies and anticipated outcomes for the reforms, as well as the consequences of these strategies. Latin America is among the world’s developing region. The region attained political autonomy roughly in the early 19th century. The colonial past, as well as the variety of primary products available for export, strongly influenced the economic development of the region’s societies. This is largely because it was through these export products that the societies entered the global system of production specialization during the last half of the 20th century. The marginal position of Latin American nations, which exported extractive or tropical agricultural crop to the developed world, was not conducive to interdependence among the region’s economies, particularly in the areas of investment and trade (Pop- Eleches 64). As a consequence, during the initial half of the 20th century, the region’s economies responded to economic crises through industrialization oriented towards domestic markets. The beginning of the 1980s witnessed massive economic changes in de veloped economies such as Great Britain and the US. Global inflation adversely affected the price of primary products produced in Latin America. This resulted in massive

Ethical Decision Making Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Ethical Decision Making - Essay Example Finding out the nature of the problem is important (Johnson 310). Identification of the affected parties is the next step. It is necessary to understand the stakeholders to get a clear picture of what lead to the problem as stated. Apart from consulting the affected, one should also try to hear from the witnesses. Clarity of the issue at this point must have come out. It helps stabilize the next step. The third step is exploring options available. It enhances brainstorming and reflects on a range of actions possible. In every potential problem, at least three options should be availed. From these options, one explores the strengths and limitations of them all. Identification of directly related problems is necessary. Before the decision comes out, it is wise to establish a mechanism for revision appeal (Johnson 139). The next step is to consider your character and integrity on the choices of options made. It is wise to try to picture out the type of decision a relevant member of the community will make out of integrity. Also, try to imagine what the larger population will think of your decision if they read in a publication. Would it be the best? You should also try to think of how your decision appears later on in life (Johnson 243). The fifth step is to think creatively about potential actions. One must have at least two alternatives to consider. Considering the two, one should come up with a third alternative that combines the idea of both the two alternatives. The third alternative should satisfy the interest of the primary parties in the situation. The sixth step is to check your confidence in the choice. It gives one the courage to give the decision openly with substantial reasons for his choice. It is more advantageous if one is experienced in the subject. If not, then it is good to consult an expert and here what he says about the solution.

The purpose of a running record is a tool used to determine word recognition reading fluency reading strategies, self- corrections, and comprehension. It is an individually conducted formative assessment which is ongoing and curriculum based. It provides a graphic  representation of a students oral reading, identifying patterns of effective and ineffective strategy use. This method was developed by Marie Clay, the originator of Reading Recovery. Running records helps document reading progress over time. Help teachers decide what students need to learn and matches students to appropriate books. We want to capture all the behaviors to help interpret what the child was probably doing. Everything the child says and does tells us something: when the reading is correct, what his hands and eyes were doing, the comments he made and when he repeated a line of text. Setting for the Assessment Library setting, after school. This was the only time available. Description of the Assessment Administration Process Select a book that is the child’s reading level. Explain to the child that he or she will read out loud as you observe and record his or her reading behavior. Sit next to the child so that you can see the text and the child’s finger and eye movements as he or she reads the text. Use running record form. As the child reads, mark each word on the running record form by using the symbols on the chart that follows. Place a check mark above each word that is read correctly. If the child reads incorrectly, record above the word what the child reads. If the child is reading too fast for you to record the running record, ask him or her to pause until you catch up. Intervene as little as possible while the child is reading. If the child is stuck and unable to continue, wait 5 to10 seconds and tell him or her the word. If the child seems confused, indicate the point of confusion and say, â€Å"Try again.† Results of the Assessment Student read 156 words at 98% accuracy. She had 3 errors and 2 self corrects. Fifth point: Before the wedding ceremony, youd better wear new wedding shoes for several times to adapt it in the case of feeling frayed at the ceremony. And you can prepare some band-aid in advance.

Change Management And Systems Implementation

Change Management And Systems Implementation Introduction This essay is about the importance of change management in information systems development and discusses about the issues that will be the result of change in an organization and also the relationship between change management and system implementation. This essay will explain the theories with related examples that were the implications of change in an organization and will critically evaluate and discusses some ideas from my personal point of view. This essay will reflect upon my understanding of change management that I have learned from this module. Change and Change Management Change management is important in any kind of organisations and especially in information system development. It is a structured way to manage change. According to Disraeli as quoted in (Gilley, 2005) Change is constant. Change is present everywhere. The change can be in an individual, in a group or in an organization. When an individual is motivated to do something different, the change that happens in an individual is the main reason for the whole word to change. Since the individual is associated with groups, and groups are related to other groups to form an organisation, the important process in part of change depends on all individuals, groups or teams, and organisations and leaders also have an important responsibility in the process of change. (Cameron Green, 2009). Technology, globalization, society and evolving legislation forces many organisations to change constantly. The organisations ability to effectively implement change decides the success of the change process which completely depends of the person involved in managing the change. Change is necessary for an organisation nowadays because of competetive pressures and to meet the current customer needs. According to (Gilley, 2005), every four or five years, organisations findings planning to undertake major organisational changes and atleast once a year to undertake moderate organisational change. So change management is inevitable in every organisations to successfully manage the process of change. The induction of this module started with the justification for the need of IT professionals to know change management. Most of the projects related to Information Technology failed due to various reasons in which one would be due to poor change management. According to (Burnes, 2009) Brindle study states that UK government had to admit the failure of its 170 million pounds programme to change the old computer systems that holds the whole countrys National insurance records was a chaos that collapsed the system and leaving the social security number into agitation. According to (Burnes,2009) Done and Willman stated that the main reason for the BAs Terminal 5 debacle was the failure of its cutting-edge computerized baggage handling system. According to (CMSI Lectures, 2010, Week 1, Slide 11), the role of the IT professionals would be working in a team with other professionals, designing the system which other people will use, expecting how they will use the system and explaining the u sers how to use the system to their maximum potential. A change management process involves all the above mentioned roles of an IT professional. These points provided me a complete justification and understanding of the need of change management for a person like me who is an IT professional. The following week I learned about different type of systems and different types of implementations involved in an IT project, other considerations for an implementation, the reason for the implementation and the process of implementation. The different kinds of systems are software such as applications and desktop, hardware system and infrastructure systems such as buildings and network. The facts that should be consider while implementing a system are the level of knowledge in the system, technology, the level of importance with the system and people, whether it is in sourced/outsourced and using the maturity models. According to (Okrent Vokurka, 2004), there are three types of implementation 1) Pilot implementation in which the prioritized functional area which gives the most benefits is implemented first 2) Parallel implementation in which the change is tested in both old and new systems parallel and 3) Big bang implementation in which the data is migrated from old system to the new system all at once which is the most risky implementation. The big bang implementation is considered as most risky implementation since most of the projects implemented this way fails. For example, Heathrow Terminal 5 project was implemented using Big bang implementation. The cutting-edge computerized baggage handler system was considered to be one of the hardest-working IT systems as said by BAA and British Airways(BA) before its launch of the system and it didnt work when it was to work. (Swabey, 2008). There are different types of change such as reactive and proactive change, incremental and All at once change, planned and emergent change. According to (Orlikowski Hofman, 1997) the different types of change are planned(anticipated), emergent and opportunity-based change. Planned change is the change that is well planned and it happenes as we planned. Emergent change is the change which occurs spontaneously out of some experimentation which is not planned. The opportunity-based change is the change that is not planned but introduced purposefully to meet the opportunities that were not expected. Some various issues and aspects of change management can be illustrated with a case study: GK Printers Limited Background: GK Printers Limited is a small printing business established after the Second World War.It is a family business in which the current managing directors father established the business. The company was involved in printing jobs along with producing publicity catlogues for local companies, business cards and stationeries. The business went down due to various reasons such as recession, no computerised printing techniques and no graphics designed printing. This made the managing director to form some strategy along with the printing manager in which the first phase was to subcontract the printing works with graphical design instead of investing more money in new equipments. The company grew very well and they had a good profit and bought new equipments. In 1989, due to its growth in business, it was complicated to manage printing, designing and managing the subcontracting activities all together. The second phase of planned change was to manage companys costing system, controlling paper work and production scheduling. After many discussion, the company planned to install Computer Based System(CBS) and it took two years completely to install the working system after purchasing hardwares and refining the softwares according to the companys requirement. Training were provided to the users and also some managers to use the system effectively. The company had a growth again with their successful installation of CBS and they managed the changes that happened in their organisation. All the changes were in organisation and there were no change in the managerial behaviour of the organisation. The problem again aroused since the customers wants the company to reduce the cost of printing due to recession and they were giving smaller orders. This made GK to think about their survival. Since they were getting only smaller orders, their production cost remained the same and if they want to reduce the price to retain the customers, they will not have any profits. To find a soluti on, the managing director approached the marketing and design manager to come up with the problems and solutions. The manager came up with the problems and suggested to increase the design business by employing more design staffs. The senior staffs didnt agree and there were no decisions taken after the meeting. This made the managing director to consider and he approached a team builder to organise the teams inside the company. The team builder came up with a report that all the managers in the company are working and fully committed for the companys success and the negative point was the way the managing director approach for solutions. He made decisions himself or to consult only with one manager to make up with the decisions. The managing director was upset with this shock and he said he always wanted a team work in the company and henceforth all the decisions will be taken by consulting everyone in the management. This made the managers happy and they were asked to come up with solutions, and after six months, GK met all their customer requirements with the solutions the team came up with and there was a considerable growth in the business. The company also developed the business of designing and developing the websites for its customers in which this business was an accidental development and the managing director created a separate department for this business which become the most profitable and fastest growing part of GK. (Burnes, 2009:383-395) According to my personal point of view on the above discussed case study, the organisation had three phase of change which means this is a phased implementation. Even though the strategies were not planned and it emerged due to the problems, the approach to the change was planned rather than emergent approach. In the first two phase of changes, the company had changes in the organisation but not in the behavioural which led to some failures such as poor coordination and cooperation between the teams and managers and also the fighting for the position between managers. These led the company for the third phase of change which was the behavioural change in which all the members of the organisation understood and cooperated to work together and also the managin director decided to take decisions after discussing with the appropiate teams. The human implications of the change process can be noted in the above case study. When GK want to change their manual system to computerized system, the workers themselves suggested some companies to GK to discuss about the CBS system. The managing director gave the responsiblities of CBS system to the group of people who were the students analysing GKs requirements to install the systems and write softwares for the system. All the organisation changes that were made in the first two phases and the behavioural change that were made in the third phase were accepted by the individuals in the organisation. According to (Burnes, 2004) Lewin was interested to analyze the origins for change and he wants to understand why people dislike change. Lewins theories includes about the planned change embarked by the organization and unintended change that happens suddenly due to some contingencies, the three stage model (Unfreeze-movement-refreeze) and models of changes. But in this case study, t he organisation has no individuals who resisted change. According to (CMSI Lectures, 2010, Week 4, Slide 16) Mintzbergs definition of strategy as five P s can be applied on this case study as a prescriptive stream since the strategy preceds change and implementation flows from the strategic plan. Some of the plans involved in the GKs strategy was to make the manual systems computerized, meet the customer requirements and build a good team in the organisation. Some of the ploys involved were to provide customers with graphical design service and to satisfy all kind of customer needs. The position of GKs place in the market is high and they are one of the best among in providing creative website development for the customers. In contrast to the planned approach, the example of Volvos approach which is one the leading Swedish motor vehicle manufacturer to reorganising vehicle production from the traditional methods of car assembly can be taken as an approach to change as emergent. The decisions are based from the workers of the company and it is completely based on the group work in which Volvos approach to change is unique in its way in which it considers human-centered approach to work. A consultant is a person who is having skills that are different or unique and they have different perspective on an issue. The reasons for using this consultancy approach includes requirement of extra staff resources, on a temporary basis, need for expert help and knowledge to deal some situations, look differently about a particular situation and for outside opinion and disinterested information. (Nachimuthu, 23 November 2010). In the above case study, since no one in the organisation were aware of the changes to be brought, the managing director approached a lecturer at a polytechnic who is the friend of printing manager, in which the lecture suggested one of his student studying business can act as a consultant for the companys improvements. The student worked as a consultant, studied the company for two months and produced a report of the organisationss finding to the managing director and the printing manager which was the basis for the change in the organisation. Management involves doing things right whereas leadership involves doing the right things. Management is about maintaining stability and leadership is about bringing the change. Management processes focus on the present and leadership processes focus on the future. Management processes involves implementing policies and procedures whereas leadership processes involves creating a culture based on shared values. Management processes uses the power of their position and leadership processes uses the personal power. Leadership roles get strengths with different personality types. (CMSI Lectures, 2010, Week 7, Slide 21). For example, the case study that I was using in the seminar about the Shell Company fostering its new level of individual power can be taken. The leadership skills and personality types of Chris Knight were discussed. The case study explains the strategies followed by Knight. Chris knight was a good leader with skills such as motivation, knowledge of the business and abil ity to manage the change and system implementations that turn around the growth of Shell. (CMSI Seminars, 2010, Week 7) Whether if it is planned or emergent approach to change, if it is at individual, group or organisation level change, or incremental or continuos change, there should be one person to manage the change and take responsibility of the change. Change agent is the one who takes that responsibility who can be a managers, internal or external consultants or it can be a team. (Burnes, 2004) states that Expect the unexpected might be the motto of most change agents since the change agents should be capable of dealing with the unexpected. If I was an agent of change in the Heathrow Terminal 5 project, I would have tested the computerized baggage system with more load and would have given training to all staffs in how to get to the parking area and especially how to handle the baggage system. I would have not compromised on testing as the chief executive of BA did on the Terminal 5 project. (Massey, 2008). Conclusion It can be concluded from the above discussion on various issues of change, its implication on human as an individual and groups within an organisation, the different types of approaches to change, the need of consultants and importance of leadership that the knowledge of change management is inevitable in any organisation for a successful system implementation in which the GK case study is an example. The need of change management, its relationship with systems implementation and its importance in Information Technology is justified from the above discussions. [Word Count: 2508]

The Dance Revolution of the 1970’s Essay -- Sociology Culture Essays

The Dance Revolution of the 1970’s Contact improvisation is a modern dance form where two people move while maintaining a connection. It originated from portions of Steve Paxton’s movement studies, which he began in 1972 at Oberlin College. As with every major event that happens in the world, the introduction and investigation of contact improvisation affected everyone in society one way or another. Many people associate the 1970’s as the â€Å"hippie era† in American history. Due to this, the majority of society was open to new ideas. It was the beginning of the sexual revolution and the women’s revolution was just getting underway. Younger members of society were participating in at least one of the numerous Vietnam War Protests, which they organized. They were into â€Å"free love†; they wanted to do away with racism and allow everyone to be treated the same and on the same level. As a result of the vast majority of society and open mindness, Paxton’s ideas in the new movement were accepted. Those who attended performances, also referre...

A Study of the Dramatic Roles of Women in Richard III Essays -- five f

There are five female characters in the play Richard III. Of these five there are four central female characters; the Duchess of York, Richard's mother; Anne who later becomes Richard's wife; Queen Margaret who was the former queen and Richard's arch enemy and Queen Elizabeth, the current queen. The final female character who plays a minor role in the play is Queen Elizabeth's daughter, Elizabeth, but she is merely a pawn in Richard's plan and we never meet her. Each woman has a significant role in Richard III and is vital to the script. Anne is the first female character that we meet in the text (act 1 scene 2), which is where she is wooed by the ultimate villain in the play, Richard. Anne has just lost her husband and is wallowing in self-pity when Richard appears. Anne is a vulnerable and weak character throughout the play although she appears bold and vengeful at the beginning of this scene, trying to disarm Richard with words, 'Dost grant me, hedgehog? Then God grant me too/Thou mayst be damned for that wicked deed!' Anne is confused and emotionally unstable which makes her more susceptible to Richard's charms. Anne's dramatic role in the play is to reveal Richard's power to charm and manipulate which he does exceptionally. Although the audience know of his true intentions and that he does not plan to 'keep her long' we are glad that he has succeeded because he is the typical villain that we love to hate, although Anne must be corrupt to succumb to him and his charms. He admits that he killed her husband and her father-in-law 'Nay, do not pause; for I did kill King Henry/But 'twas thy beauty that provoked me/'twas I ... ...use they have all been victims of King Richard and finally realise that they have to support each other because they have no-one else. Queen Elizabeth asks Queen Margaret for instructions in cursing 'O thou well skilled in curses, stay a while/And teach me how to curse mine enemies!' which I believe is her way of saying sorry and treating her as an equal. The women in this play are vital to the script and although they have no power whatsoever in this play, without them neither would Richard. Part of each of the female characters role was to show that in their era it was the men that held the power and the women were entirely powerless which Shakespeare presented superbly. Internet and Teenagers

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF E-LEARNING THROUGH INTERNET SERVICE FOR TEENAGERS Historically, the world centuries sustained a very hard time due to conservatism and backwardness of the people. No such sophisticated technology tools for assisting human’s tasks. Communication was also very hard to reach at that time due to the limitation of technological media devices. Literally the civilization had undergone a substantial movement toward the human resource development. People began doing experiments and creating some opuses to help their job.Eventually, the world societies today have succeeded to invent a useful technology tools to represent and ease human’s activities in the 21st centuries. So does Indonesia, we finally also could achieve the benefit of its advantages and wake up from any restrictiveness. Therefore, in this case, parent’s and teachers’ role is necessary to control the Internet Use. We cannot possibly blame the media, because the media only useful objects as supporting system to accomplish people’s tasks, to help learning process and to discover new information.Eventually, hoping government may help people to support society’s education and to implement E-learning through Internet Services as Long Distance Learning System at school is one good thing to do as a resident. Abortion in the United States Essay

Abortion in the United States Essay

Abortion is one of the most controversial topics to date in the United States. Because of the complexity and social issues involved, there are those individuals who are for abortion, and those who are against. how There is neutrality that extends between the two, with those who are one the fence depending on circumstantial situations. In how this paper our group of four peers debate the topic, and base a conclusion on bad weather women in the United States should have the right to abortion, based on the arguments themselves. It should remain legal. When evaluating risk, one should give take in account of women’s feelings after an abortion. Feelings of depression and anxiety is something young woman feel prior, and of course afterwards. Women sometimes choose abortions because of medical issues with the babies, or horrifying circumstances leading to the unwanted pregnancy. Henry P.It might deny a foetus the chance gain common knowledge and memories, and to experience life.

Usual feelings after an abortion is relief, loss, sadness, and grief. It is okay to grieve and you should give yourself time to grieve. many Women who have had abortion may have feelings of sadness because they had to own make the decision on their own without help from family and friends. Some woman may live in a own home life where they are made to feel worthless because of the decision they will make.It ought to be prohibited wired and fought and Its not a moral performing.Abortions are performed with in the first 9 weeks of pregnancy. Early termination the better is for the woman, less complications. Most woman receiving their abortion within the first 9 weeks report no complications afterwards. Less than 0.Several have pondered upon the importance of abortion.

Deciding to have an abortion is an important decision in itself and having others dictate you can or cannot choose makes the situation even more confusing. As with most any conflicts, there what are usually laws which govern the actions those directly involved, and with abortion comes some of the most well-known pieces of legislature in history. Today in the United States abortion is legal in every state due to the decision of Roe v. Wade. Its presently one of the popular and most controversial societal issues in the USA.On the same day of the Roe decision, another case in the state3 of Georgia was also decided on, in the case of Doe v Bolton we the state in question also was found to be in violation of the appellants constitutional rights. The twenty Ninth Amendment: The enumeration in the constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage several others retained by the people. The Fourteenth Amendment: Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the U nited States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.Abortion isnt just the legal right of a woman, its the choice of a woman.

The side effects of abortion are sometimes critical. Some of them involve spotting logical and bleeding. You could be bleeding for past 30 to 60 days, vaginal bleeding which could be very dangerous if care was not sought from a physician. Another side affect is headaches and dizziness, fever and chills, nausea and vomiting, cramping, and diarrhea. Its the selection of a lady in whether part she wants to get one.Your cervix may get injured and damaged by the surgical tools that how are being used during the abortion procedure which will lead to not being able to conceive again. Women who have gone through abortion are at a greater risk of ovarian and cervical cancer. Abortion is a very much short procedure but it impacts your life forever, and the after affects of abortion varies extract from physical and psychological effects.Women may develop an eating disorders, or drugs on alcohol abuse, or they may have flash backs about the procedures themselves.Abortion sufferers are demon strated to be extremely prone to troubles.

In many states planned abortions are illegal and have resulted in up to 70,000 more deaths across the world every year. Many arguments support the issue on abortion. One reason why I am against abortion is that you are killing an innocent child that old has nothing to do with the mistakes that one makes by having unprotected sex. You should not kill an unborn child because you are ashamed and afraid of what people might say about you. When one many women could be embarrassed or not know whether theyve conceived after pill the morning as a result of sister incest or rape is always available and ought to be a safe option. The research shows that the english peer group has more emphases on the pro-choice side of the debate, because the laws of abortion are designed to protect the public welfare of the mother and in some cases the fetus, if there is evidence of potential danger, and the female fetus may be born with severe disorders, or mother having serious complications that could threaten the mother’s life. In the past, abortions were not as safe as they are today due to advanced technologies, making abortion safer than they’ve ever been before.Abortion is sometimes the best course because of medical issues, and sometimes due to other horrifying circumstances in which some women may become pregnant, such as rape, incest, and or other circumstances that may be legitimately valid reasons, and may lessen the quality of life for the child or mother. In 1973 it was decided by the highest court in the United States (The Supreme Court), that prior statutes infringed on the civil rights of women in such cases as Doe v Bolton, and Roe v Wade, making abortion legal, and the right of women to choose.Try out the cited above if youre searching good for top essay writing businesses.

The friends continue to head out and on their way ar h argonbrained by a stem of transgenders while waiting for the transaction augury to go green. An utile use of tabby supposition has been use as the response of the teenagers is sh declare. Transgenders ar a broad part of the Paki stani troupe and are set with disgrace. They are ordinarily perceived as annoying while they beg at the calling signals the reaction of Vicky and the body quarrel of the transgenders start out clearly been captured. As the transgenders approached and fey Vicky, his facial expressions emphasise upon impatience and repulsion. youth market-gardening has been shown via saturnine converses amongst the tailfin friends. Roxy is an American-Pakistani modern girl who did not flicker to puke hashish in equality to the utmost fille, Ayesha who denies the bye and feels uncomfortable. Roxy and OJ pee-pee a conversation about the socio-economic detail of Pakistan. This was derisory to go on as women in the antecedent day were not include in such conversations, and today we see a plus change in the lineament of women. In Roxys notionional world, she cant wait to get out of this bunglesome shithole. engross of offensive spoken communication by both the genders has been highlighted, which serves as a change in the norm of our fraternity as all such instances are illegalise by the shun mesa of Pakistan. stone pits Ground, was however, winning in mirroring the honesty. From zombies, a singular hitchhiker and a witch to the ensuant sea wolf whale in a burkha, Zibah Khana covers it all.Generally, of age(p) women are invariably associated with darkness, deception and evil. funny houses cause uses the same ideology and uses an foreign strange woman in the story who is pertain in the colonization pop upings. The hitchhiker and the important psychopathic killer Burkhaman which the teenagers come crosswise are the old womans children. forward in the film, the teenagers have managed to unravel from the offensive hitchhiker by throwing him out of the van and suppress him in the process. gively instincts are shown when the mother finds her wound son and commands the Burkhaman to cut them up into botis. The old woman excessiv ely endlessly address the Burkhaman as her girl further play up the use of mess up theory. The Burkhaman is in authenticity a man, moreover is constantly referred as a female this is because the old woman always valued a young lady but never had one. I believe, the use of such a doctrine is an corroborative reference to the LGBT connection in Pakistan. throughout the film, the straight killer creation the briny aim rest close. harmonise to my analogy, it has been done designedly to lay stress upon the circumstance that society wants the LGBT fraternity to endure silent and act as the underdog of the society.Being a slasher film, the spot revolves more or less The last exam daughter throughout. beforehand the zombie attacks, she senses incongruity but chooses to ignore and stay determined. This is the most perfect schema apply in the performance of slasher films. Her psychological tumultuousness is unendingly well-tried till the very end where she turn ins herself. In completion, Ayesha is the solely case-by-case leftfield who has not been successfully victimized. Slasher films intend to show women in panic, and Zibah Khana explicitly follows this rule. It shows both the women, Roxy and Ayesha, in terror, runway for their lives and screaming. The scarce difference is that Ayesha is the final girl and cadaver determined to save herself. other lash-up use in Zibah Khana is the obliteration of all the extraneous characters one by one leave the nett fille as the last victim. This is to get latent hostility amongst the audience to experience the turn around of gender roles. When Ayesha faces the Burkhaman, she fights back for herself and saves herself by acquiring curb of a spade and a stone, and smashes the head of the man togged up in a Burkha. in that respect is no man to return her she is her own hero. A occult side of the clear girl is shown she makes sure to kill the attacker.Typically, in slasher films, the final exam Girl is given(p) bad strength and maleness all of a sudden with the urge to hold dear her instead than universe interdependent upon a man to save the day. at that place are many differences we observe among the two films. Firstly, we notice that the first victim in Zinda Laash is a woman where she is shown as a sexual object. However, in Zibah Khana, the first victim is a boy OJ. Secondly, Zibah Khana adopts the technique of wake the world from the attackers eyeball to its fullest whereas Zinda Laash hardly makes use of it.Thirdly, another characteristic feature of speech of a slasher film is to show women in terror create the tension and eventually stretchability the climax. Zibah Khana renders this consternation to a colossal point in equality to Zinda Laash, where the women effect fear is shown minimally in equivalence to Zibah Khana. Lastly, the concept of final exam Girl is alone ignored in Zinda Laash, anticipate that Shabnam was the pri mary(prenominal) girl who was pass judgment to save herself and not enter the country of stopping point that too by being stabbed by a man. Zibah Khana, on the other hand, stresses all the attention on the closing Girl, Ayesha. In the end she is the only survivor. mutual exclusiveness film is a genre which has come a long way in the Pakistani Cinema. It started off with display women as sex objects to the girl adequate the chief(prenominal) remove and live on on her own terms. To conclude, I short touch with Omar Khan, the conductor of Zibah Khana as he claims, annoyance is at its most potent when it taps into sincere fears. Our real fears are affiliated to things that are raw politically and difficult to discuss. (Telegraph, UK, 2007) 3286 linguistic communication Bibliography (n. d. ).
